Have you ever been camping? Camping is a great way to connect with nature and to have some fun. Whether you camp at a music festival or your choice is a more secluded campsite, being well prepared is crucial for making the most of it. If your camping status this summer is Beginner, pay attention to the following.
3 Camping Tips for Beginners
Pack smart. The amount of clothes and things you should pack varies on duration of your stay and the destination. Think about what is it you really need in order to avoid packing too many things. A tent, a sleeping bag and a sleeping bag cover are a must. Additionally make sure to pack a portable power bank, a flashlight, mosquito repellent and first aid kit.
Always plan for changing weather. You don’t want your camping trip to be ruined by high or low temperatures, so carefully layer and use waterproof clothes. For example, if you are on a mountain, hiking shoes are a must and athletic underwear and change of clothes will come in handy at any moment.
Bring light food to eat. Nuts and dried fruit will give you instant energy, but canned food is also a good choice – you don’t need to cook it and the risk of spilling it is minimal. Made at home energy bars are a great snack and a fuel for all nature related activities. The following recipe slowly releases calories, meaning you will feel full for a long time.
Ingredients
- 3 large ripe bananas
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 200g of oat flakes
- 90g of dried fruits to taste
- 50g of chopped walnuts
- 75g of sunflower seeds
- 60g of chopped almonds
- 35g of flax
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- Prima Classic
How to make
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Mash the banana and vanilla extract in a large bowl, then add the rest of the ingredients. Gradually add finely chopped Prima Classic sticks until your mixture gets thicker.
Lightly grease and then put baking paper into a square baking dish. Use the spoon to spread the mixture and additionally level it with wet hands. The surface of the mixture should be flat and compact.
Leave in the oven for 20 minutes until the mixture turns golden along the edges. Cool for 10 minutes, then carefully remove the mixture from the dish onto a cooling rack. Once cooled, cut the bars to any size that you want. Pack as many as you need for your trip, and the ones that you don’t pack – you can leave them in your fridge for up to 6 weeks.
You should keep in mind one more thing when packing the bars and other food for your camping trip. Think in advance about packaging waste and disposal. One of the main camping principles is Leave No Trace, meaning that we should leave no trace of our visit. Enjoy your energy bars with Prima and enjoy your camping trip. Eat hearty!
