Chocolate is the favourite treat of most people on the planet, and they can’t imagine a day without it. Some are a little braver and they like to experiment with combinations of sweet and savoury, and they will gladly combine chocolate with other snacks. The history of chocolate is really long and there are a lot of interesting facts and curiosities related to it. For you, we have selected a few. Read about them in the following text.

2500 year ago, chocolate was firstly consumed by Mayans. The cocoa used to produce the chocolate was so valuable, that they used it as their currency. Cocoa, water and chilli pepper were prepared as a liquid form and this drink was considered “food of the gods”. Until 18th century, only wealthy could afford coffee beans. The interesting thing is that even today cocoa beans are dried only 7 days before delivery and are still considered a very valuable ingredient.

White chocolate is not chocolate at all! The main ingredient of chocolate is cocoa, but there is no cocoa in white chocolate. It contains only a part of cocoa beans – cocoa butter.

Historical records state that Marie Antoinette adored cakes, but chocolate too. She was considered a lavish person, so the fact that she loved chocolate comes as no surprise, considering that chocolate was considered a valuable good. Melted chocolate was the “it” thing in the Palace of Versailles. Chocolate was viewed through the lens of sensuality and considered an aphrodisiac.

Chocolate is celebrated even today, so we have a World Chocolate Day in July. In order to celebrate it our way, we have prepared for you an interesting recipe that can be combined with both chocolate and Prima Classic sticks.
